It was goals galore for the Rhondda Bulldogs in their trip to the seaside town of Porthcawl in the second round of the League Cup.

Ton Pentre nearly opened the goal scoring in the first minute of play when early pressure saw the Rhondda outfit win a corner. Harding sent the ball into the box and Mike Jones came close with his resulting shot.

Four minutes later an attractive Ton attack saw Adam Lewis on the wing pressure the Porthcawl defence, who conceded a throw-in deep inside their half. The ball was thrown into Carl Thomas who was unable to hold the ball and conceded possession. This led to Porthcawl's first attack of the match. The ball was sent into the Ton box from out wide and found its way onto the head of Porthcawl's Christian Pascoe who made sure the ball went past Richard Johnson, a new signing from Barry Town, in the Ton goals making it 1-0 to the 'Seasiders'.

After much pressure Ton finally found the equaliser in the 21st minute when Lewis hit the ball forward towards Dean Morris, who headed on into the path of Carl Thomas, with the striker making sure his shot was neatly buried in the Porthcawl goals.

In the 27th minute Danny Shaw the Porthcawl goalkeeper was sent off for handling outside the area. The incident was a result of an attempted chip from Carl Thomas, but the goalie raised his hands to stop the Rhondda Bulldogs from taking the lead. Ton were unable to score from the resulting freekick.

Nevertheless, it only took Ton five minutes from the sending off to make the one man advantage work in their favour. Thomas scored his second of the game after Lewis played the ball through to Alex Lawless who then unselfishly passed the ball round the goalkeeper to Thomas who made it 2-1. Two minutes later the scoreline read 3-1 after a pinpoint cross from Lewis saw Thomas head home his third for a hat-trick.

The 39th minute saw Thomas and Lawless beat the offside trap once again with Ton's hat-trick hero returning the favour to pass to Lawless who scored the Rhondda Bulldogs fourth goal.

Porthcawl ended the half with a little pressure, however, Nathan Prygodzicz defended stoutly in the Ton defence and made sure the score remained 4-1 before the halfway interval.

Alex Lawless used his skill and pace to beat the Porthcawl midfield and defence to slot home Ton Pentre's fifth goal in the 51st minute. Moments later an injured Prygodzicz was replaced by Ali Kiyaga who took his place up front with Neil Davies dropping back to defence.

Porthcawl scored their second of the game in the 58th minute after a freekick was drifted into the Ton box. A freakish deflection off Lewis saw the ball head goalwards with a Porthcawl player finding that he only had to tap the ball into the goal. However, this failed to unnerve the Ton players as they went in search of more goals.

Thomas ran the ball into the opposition's box in the 73rd minute and provided Kiyaga with a chance to score. He scuffed his shot on the first attempt but saved himself from blushes on the second as he edged the ball past the 'keeper making it 6-2.

In the closing stages of the game the Rhondda Bulldogs maintained pressure on the home team and they cracked once more in the 90th minute. After gaining possession Jason Roberts ran the ball from halfway into the Porthcawl box and scored after a few jiggles to wrong foot the 'keeper netting Ton's seventh goal and a place in the next round.
