Ton Pentre got back to winning ways in their match against Bridgend Town at Ynys Park in the MacWhirter Welsh Football League Division One.
The Rhondda Bulldogs took the lead in first half injury time and added two further goals in the second half. Overall it was a good Ton performance despite a slow start from the Bulldogs.
Both teams had reasonably good chances to score during the first half with Andy Mainwaring coming close for Bridgend in the opening exchanges between the two teams but Marty Ellacott was able to scoop the ball up.
After this Ton got a foothold in the match and the pace of Alyn Jones and Jamie Michael was causing their opponents defence all sorts of problems.
During first half injury time Ton finally found the back of the net when Ryan Shugar headed the ball into the goal from a cross on the right.

Ton looked more comfortable in the second half and played some neat football but they didn't increase their lead until late in the second half. When Kristian Orchard was fouled out wide on the edge of the box, Dale Price swung a perfect cross into the penalty area where Michael's headed the ball past goalkeeper Lee Idzi.

Moments later the referee awarded a penalty kick for Bridgend when Mark Crutch tangled with an attacker in the box. Ellacott dived the right way and magnificently saved the penalty with the Ton defence clearing up by knocking the ball long.
When the ball reached the other end of the field with Lee Matthews in possession, the referee was forced to give a penalty kick to Ton when Matthews was brought down by a Bridgend defender.
Before the kick was taken the referee dismissed a Bridgend player for his angry protest. After waiting for the player to leave the field of play Dale Price kept his cool to confidently score the penalty.
The match finished 3-0 and Ton will now look forward to their next match at Taffs Well on Tuesday 13 March at 7.15pm.
Please note that the home match against Barry Town on Saturday 17 March has been cancelled.
