Ton Pentre attempted to put the disappointing midweek result against Neath behind them as they travelled to the Marston’s Stadium to face former Welsh Premier outfit and Welsh Cup finalists Afan Lido.
The conditions at Afan Lido were far from perfect as a dusty and hard surface made the ball’s movement unpredictable.
Ton Pentre looked useful when attacking in this game but were caught out on several occasions when having to defend as Afan Lido spurned chance after chance.
The home team had plenty of clear-cut chances to take the lead but Ellacott’s experience in goals was enough to save Ton from going behind.
As the match went on it looked as though neither team were going to find the back of the net. However, the referee awarded an 81st minute penalty to Afan Lido when he ruled that Paul Evans’ challenge on an opponent in the box was unlawful and a penalty was awarded. Ian Jones confidently scored from the spot, as Ton looked odds on for their third successive defeat.
Afan Lido though had a lapse of concentration six minutes later when Ton substitute Ryan Jenkins saw the ball break free to him in the box. The unmarked player struck a sweet strike to beat Lido ‘keeper Brian Thomas and level the score.
